Long COVID Conference Introduction -
Kevin T. Kavanagh, MD, MS
Long COVID is a term that describes the persistent and debilitating
symptoms that some people experience after recovering from an acute
COVID-19 infection. These symptoms can include fatigue, brain fog,
shortness of breath, chest pain, and loss of smell or taste, among
others. Long COVID can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or
severity of the initial infection. It can have a significant impact on
the quality of life and well-being of those who suffer from it, as well
as their families and caregivers.
The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers,
clinicians, policy makers, and patients to share the latest evidence and
best practices on the diagnosis, management, and prevention of long
COVID. We will also discuss the challenges and opportunities for
advancing the understanding and recognition of this emerging condition.
We hope that this conference will foster collaboration and innovation
across disciplines and sectors, and ultimately improve the outcomes and
experiences of people living with long COVID.
