COVID-19: Lessons Learned in The
United Kingdom
Dr. Stephanie Dancer provides an extensive description of how SARS-CoV-2
spreads and the importance of aerosolization. COVID-19 clusters at NHS
Lanarkshire, Scotland, was caused by spread from the community, and was
transmitted in hospitals by both patients and staff. Corrective measures
included the use of masks, opening of windows and minimizing the risks
in bathrooms and of toilet plumes. Air exchanges in most hospitals were
deficient. They were improved to six complete air exchanges per hour for
general wards and ten for bathrooms. Proper building ventilation is of
utmost importance in controlling respiratory pathogens. Health Watch USA & Mass. Nursing Assoc. COVID-19
